A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary V. Campanaro, 89, of Daytona Beach, who passed away Jan. 29, 2018, will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 University Blvd. Daytona Beach with Rev. Father Phil Egitto as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Shady Rest Cemetery. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Thursday from 4:30 until 6:30 at the church. A New York City native, Mrs. Campanaro moved to this area from Peekskill, NY in 1997. She retired after 25 years with the Peekskill City School District as an account clerk. Mary was an active parishioner and volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mary cherished her time spent with family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, entertaining, dancing, the theater, playing bridge, and travel. She married John Campanaro, the love of her life, in 1949 and they remained happily together until his death in 2006. Survivors include 2 daughters, COL (R) Joan Campanaro (Janet Stoffel), Daytona Beach and Diane Chase, Tampa; a son, Ron Campanaro, Southbury, CT; a brother, Francis Lapetina, Somers, NY; 3 grandchildren, Victoria Hunt (Tim), Lisa Chase, and Kathleen Williams (Trent); a great granddaughter, Violet Hunt. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Lourdes Academy, 1014 N. Halifax Ave. Daytona Beach 32118.
