Billie Jo Smith Overby, 76, of Ormond Beach died December 5, 2017 in Daytona Beach, FL after a long illness. Mrs. Overby, known both as “Bibbie” by her family and “BJ” by her many friends, was a Daytona Beach nativewhose family were early settlers in the Kingston area of the city. She is survived by her husband, Sherman W.Overby, Jr., two sons, Karl Moberg, Anderson, SC and William (Bill) Moberg, a daughter, Kelly Overby Shigner, bothof Brevard County, a brother, William R. (Bob) Smith, III, Miami and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased byher parents, Hazel and Bill Smith of this city and her sisters, Judy Smith Robinson and Joan Stephans. A proudgraduate of Mainland High School, class of 1959, BJ was very active in the Class of ‘59 Alumni Group, contactingmembers and organizing lunches and outings. She cherished the lifelong friendships of her schoolmates. AnExecutive Assistant and Legal Secretary by profession, she began her career here shortly after high school with thelaw offices of W. Richard Every, Esq. She loved venturing to thrift shops and flea markets in search of antiques andcollectibles and was the successful proprietor in the 1980s of an antique shop in Cocoa Village known as “FeenieDecker’s Emporium,” using the nickname of her beloved Grandmother Josephine Decker Smith. Billie Jo wasknown for her kindheartedness, and would always go out of her way to help a friend in need in any way, particularlythe elderly. She attended First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. Services will be held at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Avenue, Holly Hill FL 32117 on Wednesday December 13, 2017 at 11:00am with Pastor Cliff Smith.
