Obituary for June W Frasure

June W  Frasure
June W. Frasure, age 97, of Ormond Beach, passed on to her eternal reward July 6, 2017 to join her beloved husband, Ira J. Frasure, Jr. who died in 1956. June was born December 4, 1919 in Taunton, MA to William Elliott Metcalf and Ruth Miller Whitman. June moved with her parents to Tampa, FL when she was four. She graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1937. She worked as a clerk at Station Hospital, MacDill field where she met her future husband. They married in 1941. In 1945 he received a medical discharge from the Army and they moved to Pahokee, FL where his family lived. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and reading historical novels and mysteries. She was active in the PTA and the Women’s Fellowship in the old Ormond Beach Union Church. She worked as a medical record technician at Halifax Hospital for 22 years, retiring in 1980. She is survived by her 3 daughters: Myra Ruth Cunningham (James R.) of Mosheim, TN; Bonnie Jeanne Gorman (James A.) of Orange Park, FL; and Jay Elizabeth Strouse (Michael M.) of Ormond Beach, FL; 4 grandsons: Commander Tadd H. Gorman (Kristie) of VA; Matthew F. Dalton of VA; Andrew J. Dalton (Rachael) of Ormond Beach; and Drew M. Strouse of MI; 3 great granddaughters: Ashley Gorman of VA; Rebekah Gorman of VA; and Molly Dalton of Ormond Beach; one sister: Audrey Ruth Burnside of Plant City, FL. Visitation will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 from 11-12:00pm at Dale Woodward Funeral Home, 167 Ridgewood Avenue Holly Hill, FL 32117. A short memorial service will follow the visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be at Shady Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in June’s name to the Salvation Army at P.O. Box 11650 Daytona Beach, FL 32120.
