A Memorial Mass for William “Bill” Arthur DeNight, 83, of Atlantic Ave. Daytona Beach, will be celebrated Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1014 N. Halifax Ave. Daytona Beach with Rev. Father Phil Egitto as celebrant. A native of Riverton, NJ, Bill moved to this area in 1987 from Miami, FL. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he became Executive Vice President of Ryder Systems in Miami,FL. He also co-owned Econo Car International and various other businesses and later became a transportation/logistics consultant for companies throughout the country. Over Bill’s lifetime, he served on many Boards, Stewart Marchman-ACT, WORC, The Almous Club and currently he was serving on the board of the Mid Florida Housing Partnership. Bill was proud to be a member in good standing in Alcoholics Anonymous. Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church had been his parish for over 30 years. He was very active with the church and had served as lector and reader. An avid runner, Bill was running 5 miles daily until November of last year. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and travel, especially trips to Rome. Bill was pre-deceased by the mother of his children, Sylvia Trotta DeNight and a daughter in law, Cynthia (CB) Bentley DeNight. Survivors include his loving wife, Glynda Zuber; 5 sons, William Jeffrey, Michael (Rebecca), Shawn (Jane), Scott (Alicia) and Christian (Sonia); Glynda’s sons, Robert Brinkman (Becca) and Joseph Jolley; Glynda’s daughters, Rebekah Burks (Nick) and Amber Folker (Steven); a sister, Dorothea Bennett (Joe); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren (including a new edition this week), nieces, nephews and Zuber family members. The family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to Bill’s caregivers, Rachel Learned, Tori Cooks, Christel Wiles-Riley and the Vitas Hospice team. In lieu of other remembrances the family suggests donations be made in Bill’s memory to Palmetto House, c/o Mike Coleman, 336 S. Palmetto Ave. Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
