A Mass of Christian Burial for John Anthony Tancredi, Sr., 89 of Ormond Beach, who went to be with Our Lord, Dec. 20, 2018, will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Father Phil Egitto as celebrant. Friends wishing to call and pay their respects may do so Wed. Dec. 26, 2018 from 4 pm until 7 pm at the church. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he moved here from that area 25 years ago. John was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a retired printer who belonged to the Local 6, International Typographical Union. After moving to the area, John became an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, volunteering with St. Vincent DePaul, leading prayer groups and joining the disabled veterans. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree, Past Grand Knight, Past District Deputy and a member of the Holy Names Society. His other memberships included the D.A.V. and V.F.W. John enjoyed surf fishing, gardening, watching tennis, cards, dominoes and being creative. Those who truly knew John would say, “He was a gentle, humble leader and a devoted family man.” Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Nancy; 2 daughters, Deborah Gaspar (John), Ormond Beach and Lori Martino (Giovanni), Holly Hill; 2 sons, John Anthony Tancredi, Jr. (Maria), Chatham, NJ and James Tancredi (Diane), Manalapan, NJ; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and niece Dawn Bridgeman (Michael).
