Obituary for Cynthia Hansard Merry

Cynthia Hansard Merry, 72, of Port Orange, passed away on Nov 2, 2018 after heroic battle with cancer surrounded by loved ones. She was born and raised in Daytona Beach. She worked as a hairdresser for more than 50 years and worked at Hair Trimmers in Holly Hill, since the early 80’s, alongside her best friend, Sue Marshall. Cyndi was feisty, stubborn, loyal, and honest to a fault. She never liked to complain, but she was sure quick to do it, especially If you didn’t cook her meats medium-rare! She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to cook. If you stopped by for a visit and left hungry, that was your own fault. Her chicken and dumplings will be sorely missed. Her long-time passion was to do nothing more than to be on the water, fishing. Cyndi was predeceased by her parents, John and Doris Hansard and Geri Ewing, and her husband, Sonny. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia and Denise (Jay), one son, Danny, seven grandchildren (Miranda, Matthew, Kyono, Angelina, Mitchell, Bryce & Tyler), numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister Sharon, three brothers John Jr (Marie), Jeff (Lori) and Steve, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and adopted family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Cynthia’s memory to either American Diabetes Association or Halifax Hospice. Condolences for the family may be shared at www.dalewoodwardfuneralhomes.com.
