Carol Ferguson Hamlin
04/19/1948 - 11/01/2018
Carol was born A. Carol Salvatore to Orlando and Verna Salvatore on April 19, 1948 in Danbury, CT. She attended St. Joseph's grade school and graduated Immaculate High School in 1966. She attended Western CT State Teachers College in Danbury. Her first job was with National Airlines in New York City. She married Dennis Ferguson and moved first to N.C. where her son, Brian, was born and then onto Daytona Beach in 1972 where her second son, Keith, was born at Halifax Hospital. During this period as a young mother, Carol began a lifelong dedication to community service in a multitude of volunteer positions. After short business-related transfers to Buffalo, NY and Atlanta, GA, Carol and Dennis divorced in the early nineties and Carol reentered the workforce. Her first job was as office manager for Granville and Associates, CPA. In 2003 she started her affiliation with Memorial Medical Center in Ormond Beach, FL. She thrived in the transition when Florida Hospital merged with Memorial in 2000. As an executive assistant, she supported both the CEO and CFO during the construction and move of Florida Hospital Memorial to its new facility overlooking 1-95 in Ormond Beach. In 1994 Carol met Ken Hamlin and the couple soon became significant others/sole mates. They shared an Ormond Beach oceanfront condo for 24 wonderful years. During this period, the couple shared a passion for travel and adventure. They were most fortunate to have made multiple trips and cruises to various corners of the world. They also shared and cherished their role as grandparents to their combined six grandchildren. Carol loved holidays and the family events associated with them. This partnership tragically ended on October 7, 2018 when Carol suffered a brain hemorrhage. The complications of the event resulted in her death on November 1, 2018. Carol was proceeded in death by her father, Orlando Salvatore, in 2001. She is survived by her mother, Verna age 93, living in Lake Mary, Fl, her Brother David Salvatore of Sorrento, FL, her sister, Donna Arbitelle of Mt. Airy, MD, son Brian of Raleigh, NC, son Keith of Winter Park, FL, granddaughter Daisey of St. Augustine, FL, granddaughter Emma of Sanford, NC, grandson Wrigley of Raleigh, NC. and a multitude of loyal, faithful, loving friends representing each segment of her life. Carol was most active in St. Brendan's Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32176, serving as an eucharistic minister and in other capacities. St. Brendan's will be the site of her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. to be celebrated by Father Tom Barrett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to Family Renew, 810 Ridgewood Ave., Holly Hill, FL 32117 — familyrenew.org.
