Obituary for Patricia Dodd

Patricia Dodd
Patricia Ann Sangialosi Dodd, 82, died at Halifax Health Hospice in Ormond Beach, FL on July 12, 2018 from stomach cancer. Patti was born and raised in Otisville, NY as a Roman Catholic and was the youngest of six children to Agnes McNally and Samuel Sangialosi. After Patti’s father died her mother remarried and had two more children Fran and Tommy. Patti attended Orange County Community College in Middletown, NY where she was one of the first group of students in the two year nursing program and graduated as a Registered Nurse. In her 37-year career as a RN, Patti worked at Horton Memorial Hospital, St. Teresa’s Letchworth Village Unit, and the Alcohol Treatment Center all in Middletown, NY. Patti also became a certified alcohol counselor with New York State and became a Clinical Coordinator at the Alcohol Treatment Center. In 1955, Patti married the “love of her life,” Robert Strike Dodd of Mt. Hope, NY. Patti and Bob had two daughters, Sharon and Victoria and resided in Middletown until 1992 when both retired to Ormond-by-the-Sea, Florida. Bob died in 1999 and Patti continued to live in Ormond Beach, FL with her family. Patti was known for her dedication to her patients as a RN, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Patti was also known for her kind spirit, great laugh, wonderful smile, love for her family, friends, God, and her country. Her daughters called her “The Communicator” with her daily outpouring of phone calls, letters and postcards. Patti had a strong faith and had a “line to the Lord” because of her devotion of daily prayers, rosaries, and novenas. Patti is predeceased by her brother Sam Sangialosi, sisters Martha Yarrusso, Mary Walsh Seeley, Agnes O’Loughlin, and Fran Zawasky. Patti leaves behind her daughters Sharon Dodd, Victoria Dodd Gottlin, her son-in-law, Leif, granddaughters, Julia and Grace, her sister, Helen “Honey” Fitts Davis, her brother Tommy Dunn, and many nieces and nephews. Her family wishes to thank all of her doctors, nurses, entire staff of Signature Health Care of Ormond Beach, Florida Hospital, and the Halifax Health Hospice of Ormond Beach for the excellent care she received. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society (Relay for Life) c/o Damar Yarrusso Osika, 84 Walsh Rd. La Grangeville, NY 12540 or Halifax Health-Hospice, 235 Booth Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Burial will be private. Condolences may be shared for the family at www.dalewoodwardfuneralhomes.com.
