Obituary for Susan Lona Bentley

Susan Lona Bentley
Susan Lona (Trippe) Bentley

On the 13th day of June 2018, Susan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Susan was born June 1, 1932 in Syracuse, New York and was the daughter of Fred and Lona Trippe. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Bentley.

Susan graduated from New Hartford High School in New York. She briefly attended nursing school in Rochester, New York, shortly before she was married to Robert Bentley on January 12, 1952. The marriage produced six children, Robert (Sandy) Ormond Beach, Florida, John (Terry) Sauquoit, New York, William (Paula) Longwood, Florida, Barbara (Andy) Deland, Florida, James (Kylie) Eufaula, Oklahoma and Kristen (John ) Palm Coast, Florida. From their children, Susan and Robert were blessed with 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Susan is also survived by her younger brother Fred (Pat) Trippe and family. Susan enjoyed her very large family. Interestingly, Susan discovered recently that one of her ancestors was Robert Treat Paine, one of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Susan had many friends including lifelong friends (the hens), in New York who remained close throughout her long life. Susan had a warm and bright personality and was very good at swimming and diving. Most importantly, she was a wonderful mother to her children throughout her life and was a patient and faithful wife to Robert. She will be missed by us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tomoka Christian Church. A celebration of her life will be held at the Tomoka Christian Church at 1450 Hand Ave., Ormond Beach, FL on June 25 at 1 O’Clock.
