Obituary for Konstantinos "Kosta" Christoforakis

Konstantinos "Kosta" Christoforakis
It is with an extremely heavy heart that we write that our father, and Pappou, Konstantinos “Kosta” Christoforakis passed away on January 5, 2018. Our dad was born in Embona, Greece on May 21, 1943, he came to the United States in 1965. Dad married our mom, our angel Georgette Christoforakis (2007), in 1973 and eventually they settled in Daytona Beach, Florida. Dad operated, and then owned, Pantheon Pizza from 1976, serving the community until retiring in 2006. He had many employees over the years who quickly grew to become like family to him. He may have not known every customer’s name, but he sure knew what their order was – so much so that some people would actually run into the pizza store to change their order before he started making it when he saw them pull up.

Dad’s goal in life was to have the American dream and he succeeded in doing so. He came to the United States with only $5 in his pocket. After taking a bus to New York City he was left with only 5 cents and the clothes on his back. If you ever had the honor to hear him tell the story, you will never forget it. He loved this country with all his heart. Dad held his love and devotion for his family higher than anything. He wanted his children to have more that he had, encouraging each one of us to complete our bachelor’s degree. He enjoyed playing poker on his iPad with his friends in Greece and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dad frequented the local McDonald’s in the mornings, having coffee and breakfast with some local friends, and also enjoyed going to the dog track in the evenings.

We will continue his memory and make him proud. Dad is survived by his children: Noela Taylor (husband Raymond), Sofia Walker (husband Bryon), Athena Christoforakis, and Constantine “Dino” Christoforakis (wife Ashley). Devoted Pappou to Lukas, Elijah, Zeva, Nya, Constantine “Kostaki”, and Atlas. Loving companion to Eva Hobler. Brother to George, Steve, Lefty, and Tony (pre-deceased), Uncle to several nieces and nephews and step-father to Dimitri Diatchenko.

Friends are welcome to celebrate our Dad’s life with us at United Brethren in Christ Church, 560 Flomich Ave, Holly Hill on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm. The service will be followed by laying him to rest at Greenwood Cemetery on White St. in Daytona Beach and then returning to the church for a reception.
