Kennie L.  Sirk
SIRK, KENNIE LEE- Kennie Lee Sirk, age 89, of Daytona Beach, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5th, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1928 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He was the oldest son of Clayton Rex and Blanche Sirk. In 1944 at age sixteen, he moved to Akron, Ohio where he learned the trade of Arc Welding for the McNeil Machine & Engineering Company. He proudly served in the National Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., under President Harry S. Truman during the Korean War. Kennie was the owner and operator of Clarksburg Automobile Company which was established in 1899. He was a Buick dealer, as well as owner and operator of several businesses during his lifetime. He enjoyed flying, and his first solo plane flight was in 1956. He served as President of the Bridgeport, West Virginia Rotary Club in 1970, and was awarded the high honor of Rotarian of the Year in 1972. In honor of his philanthropy, the Rotary Club distinguished him with the honor of receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Kennie was inducted into The Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in Parkersburg, West Virginia in 1975, and on May 1, 1976 in Bridgeport, West Virginia, he became a member of the Royal Secret of the 32 Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. He moved to Daytona Beach in 1985, where he retired and enjoyed the Florida lifestyle. Kennie was an inspiration and example of a life well lived to the fullest. He lived by the principals of hard work, positive attitude and perseverance towards whatever he set his mind to do. Kennie shared his advice and guidance with others till his last days. Left behind to treasure him are: Carolyn Ann King Sirk (the love of his life), and his daughter, Michelle Lee (Sirk) Johnson. The funeral service is on Thursday, January 11th; the viewing will be from 1:30 to 2:00 pm, and the service will begin at 2:00 pm at High Point Pentecostal Church, 1495 Herbert St., Port Orange with Pastor Kenneth Sharp as officiating. His final resting place will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with Military Honors on Friday, January 12th at 1:00 pm.
